Description
Heavy vintage Native American Papago sterling silver bracelet by Alton Noriega circa 1980s. The design has been chiseled out of the silver rather than stamped. The cuff has a 38mm gap that is not adjustable. It is hallmarked “AN” with an arrow. In excellent vintage condition.
Papago tribes were originally located in the desert regions of the northern Sonora and Arizona. Many are currently located in three reservations in southern Arizona, Gila Bend and in villages in northwestern Sonora. They are best known for their basket weaving, which is reflected in the pattern of this bracelet.
